Hi supertech,
There is no superiority as such. Every languages has its advantages and disadvantages so it should be used as per requirements. PHP is free and it runs smoothly on linux and apache which again costs less because of free nature of licenses where as asp.net runs nice on windows platform.
Anything can be done in both the languages so there is no question of superiority here rather ease of use for a particular requirement. I would recommend php though.

PHP and ASP.Net both are good for developing a search engine friendly website. For making a site search engine compatible, always keep javascript and CSS in separate files.

ASP is not really a language in itself, but an acronym for Active Server Pages; the actual languages used to program ASP include Visual Basic Script, JScript, and C#, among others. The biggest drawback of ASP is that it's a proprietary system that is natively used only on the Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) platform.
