is it okay to have an internal page getting way more traffic than the homepage?

Let's say I want to rank my homepage for a set of keywords, which will get me 10k visitors per month (as an example)
But then let's say I have an internal page, which is optimised for another set of keywords, and gets 50k visitors per month.
Is this ok? Is it perfectly normal for an internal page to get more traffic than the homepage? Or if that is not the case, shouldn't I just optimise the homepage for the highest traffic keywords instead?
It's just that the homepage is quite "broad" and covers many topics, acting like a portal to different areas of the site, so it's likely not to be as relevant to many users if I tailor it to very specific keywords, such as those that would get 50k highly specific visitors.
Thanks in advance
